Staying at Alcyon
ROOMS
All seven rooms in the main house and cabin can be single or double rooms, and have shared bath facilities. Rooms are fully furnished with beds, chairs and desks. Towels, linens, pillows, blankets, and comforters are provided. See description of hermitages and tenting possibilities below.
MEALS
For programs participants, meals are included - see program details. Personal Retreat guests have use of our kitchen and bring their own food.
OUR GARDENS
Year round, guests (and we!) encounter beauty, nature’s vital forces, and Silence in our gardens.
Main House
Each of the 4 second-floor rooms has its own sink, desk and chair; guests share shower and bathroom and have full use of the main kitchen. Wifi is available for in-bedroom use only. Common areas are technology-free spaces.
Kingfisher Log Cabin
The 24’ by 36’ cedar log cabin was built in 1989 by three generations of the Grant family. Living quarters consist of a living and dining area with a fully equipped kitchen; a modern bath with hot water, shower/tub, water-saving toilet, sink, and towel closet; 3 bedrooms known by their respective birds on each door:
the Baltimore Oriole room has two single beds, a chair, bookshelves, and closet
the Cedar Waxwing room has a queen bed, chair, bureau, closet
the Hermit Thrush room has one single bed, a chair, small desk, closet
Black Crow Hermitage
14x16' insulated and heated, with full loft, pull out double bed downstairs and twin beds in loft (access by ladder), electricity, full bathroom with shower and sink (mid-April to mid-October). Small fridge and coffee maker, but no indoor kitchen facilities. When outdoor summer kitchen (fully furnished) is not available, guests may use the kitchen in the Main House.
Hummingbird House Hermitage
8x12' hermitage with double bed, desk, shelves, electricity. No wifi. Full use of first-floor Main House bathroom and kitchen.
Evergreen Alley Tent Hermitage
New in 2020! A 10x12 canvas super tent, fully rain proof, electric hook up; queen size bed (bring your own bedding); chair, desk. Use of Main House bathroom facilities in winter. Shared outdoor kitchen and bathroom with Black Crow Hermitage in summer.
Tent Platforms
For those wishing to camp on the shore of Seal Cove, we have two tent platforms (bring your own tent!). Use of indoor cooking and bathroom facilities is available.
